Red, White and Blue Dessert Recipe

Red, White and Blue Dessert - Ingredients and Procedures.

Ingredients:
  • 2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups heavy cream, whipped
  • 2 quarts strawberries, halved, divided
  • 2 quarts blueberries, divided

Procedures:
  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and extracts until fluffy.
  • Fold in whipped cream.
  • Place a third of the mixture in a 4-qt. bowl.
  • Reserve 20 strawberry halves and 1/2 cup blueberries for garnish.
  • Layer half of the remaining strawberries and blueberries over cream mixture.
  • Top with another third of the cream mixture and the remaining berries.
  • Spread the remaining cream mixture on top.
  • Use the reserved strawberries and blueberries to make a “flag” on top.

Baked Barbecue Beans Recipe - Ingredients and Procedures.

Ingredients:
  • 2 (16-oz) cans pork & beans or 1 (28-oz) can
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, diced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped

Procedures:
  • Mix pork and beans, bacon, brown sugar, mustard and barbecue sauce.
  • Add onions and peppers.
  • Bake, covered, for about 1 hour at 350°.

Strawberry Spinach Salad Recipe

Strawberry Spinach Salad Recipe - Ingredients and Procedures.

Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 10 ounces fresh spinach - rinsed, dried and torn into bite-size pieces
  • 1 quart strawberries - cleaned, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup almonds, blanched and slivered

Procedures:
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce and onion.
  • Cover, and chill for one hour.
  • In a large bowl, combine the spinach, strawberries and almonds.
  • Pour dressing over salad, and toss.
  • Refrigerate 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
